: Independence Era, Day 13
Apologies for not updating.
Things have gone rather well. Lectures have gone pretty well in my opinion.
I've joined the gym, with the intention of becoming marginally less skinny. According to a machine at said gym measuring height, weight and body fat...
Height: 1.79m
Weight: 58.5kg, of which 5.9kg (10.1%) is fat
(all figures quoted dressed and with shoes)
This gives me a BMI of 18.2. According to that admittedly-limited metric, I am underweight; my body fat levels are apparently about ideal. I have a long-term goal of gaining around 10kg of muscle mass; updates will follow approximately every eight weeks.
I've tried to find a means of gaining confidence through performing. The university's musical theatre group wasn't it, they're sufficiently advanced that I'd only lose confidence trying to keep up with them. Karaoke at the student union bar, that was more like it. Fresh from a Debating Society debate with the proposition 'This House would legalise heroin' (soundly rejected, incidentally), I went up to said bar, and after many pen-related problems, wrote down the song I wished to perform. Said song was the Kelly Clarkson independence anthem 'Breakaway'. The reader of this blog will perfectly well understand why this song was chosen, and will no doubt approve of it.
And today, my desire to have singing lessons - a prerequisite of which was gaining independence - appears set to be fulfilled, as I am in contact with a third-year music undergraduate who provides tuition and at present is set to be my singing teacher. Assuming this happens, and it seems certain it will, updates will be provided here.
I have a reason to update this again. :)
(Oh, and you can listen to me on the university radio station on Sunday, 3-4pm: Click here to listen. The new Pet Shop Boys single will be played, and that's as good a reason as any to tune in if you've not heard it.)
