Went to karaoke this evening at the student union pub. After much consideration, I decided it was worth trying to perform A Moment Like This. Flip-o-blimey, I hadn't realised how comfortably low most of that song is. My concern, however, is with that final note - or perhaps going into it, for that (when singing the rest of the song in the correct octave for my voice) involves crossing the break in my voice beyond which Gemma says I should not pass.
Except I did. And upon doing so, drew a reaction so loud that it nearly caused a big sensory-overload reaction. As it turned out, I made it through the final line of the song before eventually leaving in a state of delighted shock.
Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like that...
------
Incidentally, I note that For The Rest Of Your Life is now in a 3pm slot. I've been to a taping, and I can say that Nicky Campbell casually dismissing the first bailout opportunity in round one (which as far as I can tell is frequently the one to take) in M. N. No Deel Sod fashion ought to be priceless free publicity for Save Kids' TV. Relatedly, there must have been a big transfer of older viewers from Noel's Gambling Party to the ITV1 costume drama repeats...
