: Big happy moment!
After jumping through far too many hoops to do so, and facing a frustrating week-long delay (during which time my potential personal trainer client lost touch with me for no adequately explored reason and two attempted meetings with vocalists I am writing for collapsed without warning, thus producing a general feeling of lack of control), I have been told that I can shift to a joint degree in Economics and Politics.
This may seem unexpected, but I do feel that:
1. It seems as though there comes a point where one's mathematical aptitude becomes a limiting factor.
jiggery_pokery apparently reached it at some point during his degree, according to his Six Degrees Apart From EU Legislation user profile; I believe I've reached mine in the optional mathematics module, a choice I feel immense resentment towards even now.
2. I feel a greater affinity towards Politics, an immediate relevance that really appeals. With mathematical study, one has to find the application, and little application was evident this year.
3. Changing merely to a joint degree facilitates further study of those areas of Economics I feel more affinity towards.
I can't quite believe I've made this decision, but I have. And I am genuinely excited about it. I feel I can make more of myself now.
Hours before that, I booked an appointment with the campus counselling service. If this is not a false dawn, such meetings will not be hugely necessary, but they will provide a useful safety net that I may well need. My self-esteem is still fragile at best, and hopefully that will not last.
