How in the damned hell does *this* work?
To-day at the choir...

Somewhere In My Memory, Williams/Bricusse, arr. McPheeters
Soprano: C#4-D5
Alto: C#4-D5
Tenor: D3-E4
Bass: G2-D4

That is not a misprint, it is not a typo, it is not a copy/paste error, the two female parts really do cover precisely the same range. The only difference is that the soprano line generally sits higher.

Yes, it's cheesy film music with a Christmas theme. But somehow I really like it, albeit as a throwaway bit of prettiness. A remarkable shortage of tenors - precisely two (!) today - meant I ended up voluntarily joining them, along with someone called Danny who appears to be very much best described as a baritone. Would have been more successful had I taken water with me, I suspect; in a minor panic this evening, I did not.

The other piece was an arrangement of O Holy Night. We've got some more carols to cover soon too (although in good news, In The Bleak Midwinter is one of them). We have a most peculiar time signature change to 12/8 (!) after an introduction in 4/4, Lyndsay opted for an amnesty on her usual zero-tolerance approach to 'ooh'-ing, and we have the following ranges:

Soprano: C4-G5
Alto: C4-D5/E5 [subdivision within alto section]
Tenor: C3-F4
Bass: C3-D4

And I don't need to tell you which section I settled in that time around, do I?
